Paolo E. Pinto is Professor of Structural Engineering at the University of Rome and author of a large number of publications. He developed his scientific activity in the areas of modelling and analysis of reinforced concrete structures in the non-linear range, seismic risk analysis of structures and infrastructures, development of normative documents on seismic design of buildings, bridges, tanks, etc. He participated in the activities of the CEB, the IABSE and the CSS, and promoted scientific exchanges with institutions in Europe, in the US, Japan and New Zealand. Chairman of CEN SC8: Eurocode 8 from 1990 to 1999, he was designated 1998 Chairman of the Commission 7: "Seismic Design" of FIB.
